PBA
it all boils down to a best of three show down after Purefoods Chunkee Giants managed to tie the best of seven series in the San Mig Coffee PBA Fiesta Conference Finals two games a piece... Coach Yeng Guiao of the Red Bull Barakos even stated after their two straight losses that the series is just starting, and not blaming his boys because he knew that his boys played their best... and then the next two games was history... the bench of the Red Bull Barakos showed what they're made of and helped the team in winning their 3rd championship since joining the PBA in 2000... Mick Pennisi and Cyrus Baguio stepped up and hit crucial shots to keep the Barakos' rally in the fourth quarter added by the strong performance of the Barakos' starters; James Penny, Enrico Villanueva and Lordy Tugade...

PBA facts:
  • Enrico Villanueva (PF - Red Bull) won the San Mig Coffee PBA Fiesta Conerence MVP
  • This championship was the 3rd title for the Photokina's Franchise since joining the PBA in 2000

PBL
after being two games behind in the best of five series... Magnolia Dairy Ice Cream started to find their teamwork and played with all their hearts out taking a game after another as if it was the last game of the finals (literally)... most of the games are very close and intense... in fact, it became way too physical and even end up suspending Jojo Tangkay, the 2006 PBL Heroes Cup MVP and the star of Rain or Shine, because of throwing a punch in the face of Arwind Santos, one of the mainstay of Magnolia, in game 4... this penalty probably was the main reason why Rain or Shine lost the deciding game which was held at the San Andres Gym in Manila...

PBL Facts:
  • Jeffrey Chan (SG - Magnolia) won the Pivotal Player of the Finals
  • Kelly Williams (PF - Magnolia) won the 2006 PBL Heroes Cup Finals MVP
